PM Youth Chromebook Scheme in Sindh: Prepare While You Wait

If you are a Class 9 student in Sindh trying to register for the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme and your board is nowhere on the portal, you have not done anything wrong. Sindh registration simply has not opened yet — and the reason is specific, official, and worth understanding, because it also tells you exactly what to do next.

Why Sindh is waiting

An Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) notice reported on 26 October 2026, still reflected in portal reporting as of 28 October 2026, states that registration for Sindh students will open only after all educational boards in Sindh have declared their Class 9 Annual Examination 2026 results. Not after the first board, not after your board — after all of them. That single word is why no Sindh date can honestly be given today: the opening depends on the slowest board, not on a calendar date anyone has announced.

That also explains the portal. The scheme’s registration portal is the IBCC portal, and at the 26 October check no Sindh board appeared in its board list. Do not try to work around that by registering under another province’s board, borrowing someone else’s roll number, or paying a “registration agent” to get you in early. A record that does not match your own board’s result data will not survive verification, and money paid to an agent will not come back.

Note on Karachi results: BSEK Karachi Class IX results were released in the week of 20–26 October 2026, but only as pass/fail by subject, with detailed mark sheets reported as at least two weeks away. A single board’s release does not satisfy the ‘all Sindh boards’ condition and does not mean Sindh registration has opened.

What the scheme is, in brief

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme in Islamabad on 25 October 2026, with a target of 500,000 refurbished Chromebooks plus MiFi internet devices over two years, distributed on merit. For the four provinces, including Sindh, the portal’s published criteria consider top-performing Grade 9 students of government and public schools, based on the Annual Examinations 2026; private school students are not covered under the current criteria. The first-round last date of 19 October 2026 applied to BISE Lahore and AJK boards; that date has now passed, and whether any extension was granted could not be verified in this check — in any case it has nothing to do with Sindh, and Sindh students should not treat it as their deadline.

What to prepare now

The waiting period is genuinely useful, because the application itself — once it opens — is unforgiving: one application per student, and details cannot be edited after submission. Get everything ready now, while there is no deadline pressure.

1. Your identity documents

Make sure your CNIC or B-Form is valid and that the name, father’s name, and date of birth on it match your school and board records exactly. If anything differs, get it corrected through NADRA and your school now, not in the week registration opens.

2. Your result card

Keep your SSC Part-I (Class 9) result card safe. You will need it as a document upload, and your marks are the basis of the merit assessment. A clear scan beats a faded photograph — test the scan now and re-scan if any text is blurry.

3. Your guardian’s CNIC

An attested copy of your father or guardian’s CNIC is part of the document set for the scheme. Ask for it early, and have it attested, so you are not chasing signatures at the last minute.

4. A recent photograph

Prepare a recent, passport-style colour photograph. The portal accepts photographs in JPG or PNG format; other documents may be uploaded as JPG, PNG, or PDF.

5. The 300 KB rule

Each uploaded file must be 300 KB or smaller. Practise compressing your scans now, and check after compression that every word and number is still readable. A file that is small but illegible will be rejected just as surely as one that is too large.

6. A phone number that stays reachable

Use a mobile number you or your parent or guardian actually keeps active, because portal messages and reference details travel by phone. A SIM that changes next month is a problem you can avoid today.

What to watch for

  • Your own board’s Class 9 result announcement — and then confirmation that all Sindh boards have declared.
  • A fresh IBCC or PMYP announcement that Sindh registration has opened, and the appearance of Sindh boards on the portal.
  • Any new last date for Sindh, once announced — only that date will be your deadline.

Until then, ignore every Sindh registration date you see on a blog, a video thumbnail, or a WhatsApp forward. If it does not come from IBCC, PMYP, or your board, it is a guess — and guesses have already cost students money and personal data since the scheme’s launch.

Frequently asked questions

When will Chromebook registration open in Sindh?

After all Sindh boards declare their Class 9 Annual 2026 results, according to the IBCC notice reported on 26 October 2026. No date has been announced.

Why is my Sindh board not on the portal?

Because Sindh registration has not opened yet. The absence of Sindh boards from the portal list is consistent with the IBCC notice, not a fault with your record.

Can I register under another board meanwhile?

No. Your application is checked against your own board’s records, so registering under the wrong board will not survive verification.

What documents will I need?

A recent colour photograph, your SSC Part-I result card, an attested copy of your CNIC or B-Form, and an attested copy of your father or guardian’s CNIC, each file 300 KB or smaller.
