The CM Punjab Youth Games 2026–27 are shaping up to be the largest school and college sports event Punjab has ever attempted – millions of registrations, competitions rising from union council level to provincial finals, and a prize pool reported in the hundreds of millions. If you are a student, a parent, or a teacher helping a class register, the useful question is not how big the event is. It is whether you, your sport, and your category are covered, and whether your registration is actually complete before the window closes.
The deadline — read this first
As of 28 October 2026, multiple October 2026 reports, including The News, put the registration closing date at 5 November 2026, after an extension from an earlier date. Registration is reported to have opened on 15 September 2026. The official portal did not load in the 26 October writing-time check, so treat 5 November as the reported deadline and confirm it on the portal itself the moment you open it – if the portal shows a different date, the portal wins. Do not wait until the final evening: portals under this kind of load slow down, and a half-finished form is not a registration.
Who can take part
The games are organised by the Government of Punjab and Sports Board Punjab, with PITB, under the message “Khelta Punjab, Barhta Punjab”. The reported categories cover a much wider net than a single school tournament:
- School students
- College students
- University students
- Madrassa students
- Vocational institute students
- Open category participants not enrolled in a formal institution
- Labour-school students
- Special-education students
Both boys and girls are included, with dedicated categories for female athletes. Some sports are restricted by gender or category – for example, certain reports list football, kabaddi, and wrestling as boys-only in some categories – so check what your own category actually offers before you choose a sport. If your institution is not listed on the portal, ask your school, college, or district sports officer rather than registering under the wrong institution; a registration tied to the wrong institution can fail at trial stage.
The sports list
Nineteen sports are reported in most October 2026 reporting, but a separate Punjab Youth Games site currently displays ‘22 Sports’ – the count is therefore disputed and the portal list for your category is the only authority; do not treat either number as confirmed. The sports named across the task brief and current reporting include Cricket (Tape Ball), Hockey, Football, Kabaddi, Badminton, Athletics, and Basketball, alongside others such as Volleyball, Table Tennis, Handball, Karate, Tug of War, and Squash, with availability varying by category. The full, final list for your category is the one displayed on the official portal – that is the list to trust if a blog or social media post names a sport the portal does not offer you.
How registration works
Registration is online through the official portal youthgames.punjab.gov.pk – and only that address. Have the following ready before you start, as reported for the registration form:
- Your name and your father’s name, exactly as on your identity record
- B-Form or CNIC number
- Date of birth
- Institute and district
- Mobile number and WhatsApp number
- A photograph, or a scan of your B-Form, as the form asks
Fill the form carefully, submit it, and then do the step many students skip: save the reference number and take a screenshot of the confirmation. That reference and screenshot are your proof at trial stage if your name does not appear on a list later. If you are under 18, involve a parent or guardian, especially before sharing personal details or travelling for trials. And never pay an individual or an unofficial website for registration – the official portal’s own instructions are the only ones that count, and no confirmed registration fee has been established for this event.
What happens after registration
Competitions are reported to run in stages – from union council and tehsil level, up through district and division, to provincial finals. That structure is why early registration matters: missing the first local round usually means missing the whole ladder, however good you are. Keep your reference safe, watch for trial announcements from your institution or district sports office, and arrive with the same identity document you registered with.
Prizes – what is actually known
A prize allocation of PKR 500 million has been reported by third-party sources. No per-position prize amounts have been reliably confirmed, and this guide invents none. If a post or a WhatsApp message quotes an exact cash prize for winning your sport or category, where it came from – until Sports Board Punjab publishes a prize structure, any such figure is a rumour, not a promise.
