Benazir Taleemi Wazaif is not a general scholarship, and it is not money for simply having a child in school. It is a conditional stipend paid on top of the mother’s Benazir Kafaalat support, and the condition is the whole point: the child must actually attend school. Families who understand that one rule — enrol properly, keep attendance up, keep documents current — rarely run into trouble. Families who treat it as an automatic payment are usually the ones asking why a quarter’s money never arrived.
Who qualifies
The consistently reported eligibility conditions are:
- The mother must already be a BISP Kafaalat beneficiary. Children of families outside BISP are not eligible for this programme.
- The child must be enrolled in a government school or a registered private school.
- The child must hold a valid NADRA B-Form.
- The child must maintain at least 70% attendance each quarter.
- Age bands reported by level are: Primary 4–12 years, Secondary 8–18 years, and Higher Secondary 13–22 years.
Note the overlap in those age bands — a child can sit in more than one band depending on their class, which is why the school’s own record of the child’s class matters more than a parent’s guess at the “right” category. If your child’s school changes, tell BISP promptly; a payment tied to an old school record is a common cause of delay.
How registration works
Registration is free and, in the standard process, offline. There is no genuine “register online from home” shortcut, and anyone charging a fee for enrolment should be reported, not paid.
- Visit your nearest BISP Tehsil Office or enrolment camp/field office with the mother’s CNIC and the child’s B-Form.
- Collect the Taleemi Wazaif enrolment slip.
- Take the slip to the child’s school for verification — the school confirms enrolment, class, and its own details, with its stamp and the head’s signature.
- Submit the verified slip back to the BISP Tehsil Office, along with the mother’s CNIC and the child’s B-Form.
- Wait for confirmation by SMS from 8171. Third-party guides commonly put this at 2–4 weeks, but treat that as a typical range, not a guaranteed date.
BISP’s own Taleemi Wazaif page also describes a digital self-enrolment application (linked from bisp.gov.pk to the Google Play store). The name ‘Waseela-e-Taleem App’ was not confirmed on that page in this check, so do not follow any app link from a message — use only the application BISP itself points you to, and keep the Tehsil Office / enrolment-camp route as the established path.
Why payments stop
Payments are released quarterly, and each quarter stands on its own attendance record. The most common reasons a payment does not arrive are: attendance falling below 70% for that quarter, the school not updating its record, a change of school that was never reported to BISP, or a CNIC or B-Form verification problem. Before assuming a payment is “lost”, check which of those applies — and fix the record first, because a new application does not repair an old attendance gap.
Keep the habit simple: at the end of each term, confirm with the school that your child’s attendance and enrolment record is up to date, and keep copies of every slip and SMS you receive. If a quarter is missed because of illness or a genuine absence, raise it with the school and the Tehsil Office with whatever proof you have, rather than waiting for the next quarter to sort itself out.
How to check status
Status can be checked by sending the mother’s CNIC number by SMS to 8171, or through the 8171 web portal at 8171.bisp.gov.pk. Use only the number 8171 and only that portal for status checks. Messages from any other number claiming to be BISP, especially messages asking for money, a code, or bank details, should be ignored — BISP registration is free, and status checks through 8171 are the established route.
A word on stipend amounts — deliberately left out
You will find very different stipend figures quoted online for 2026, varying by level and by gender, and they contradict each other. Because none of those figures could be confirmed on bisp.gov.pk during our check, this guide publishes no stipend amount at all. That is a deliberate choice, not an oversight: a wrong figure in a guide like this one could lead a family to budget for money that never arrives, or to accuse a payment office of short-changing them over a number a blog invented. Confirm the current quarterly amount for your child’s level at your BISP Tehsil Office, and treat any online table that cannot show an official source with the same caution.

Frequently asked questions
Can I register my child for Taleemi Wazaif online?
The established route is free, in-person registration at a BISP Tehsil Office with school verification.
Does my child qualify if I am not a Kafaalat beneficiary?
No. The mother must be a BISP Kafaalat beneficiary for the child to be eligible for Taleemi Wazaif.
What happens if attendance drops below 70%?
Payment for a non-compliant quarter can be suspended, because the payment is conditional on attendance, and repeated non-compliance can lead to suspension from the programme. Later quarters depend on the attendance record for those quarters.
How do I check Taleemi Wazaif status?
Send the mother’s CNIC by SMS to 8171, or use the 8171 web portal, and trust only messages that come from 8171 itself.
How long does registration take?
Third-party guides commonly report SMS confirmation within 2–4 weeks of submitting the verified slip. Treat that as typical, not guaranteed, and follow up at the Tehsil Office if nothing arrives well beyond that range.
