Most NSIS problems are not mysterious. They are a mistyped CNIC, a mobile number you no longer use, a record your institute has not uploaded yet, or a lookalike website that was never the real portal. The trick is working through the fixes in the right order — account first, institute second, helpline last — instead of trying everything at once and locking yourself out further.
This is a companion to our main guide on NAVTTC free skills training, which covers courses, eligibility and how to apply. If you have not applied yet, start there. If you are already in the system and something is stuck, stay here.
First, make sure you are on the real portal
Use only the NSIS sign-in portal, nsis.navttc.gov.pk/sign-in, and NAVTTC’s own site, navttc.gov.pk. Any other domain offering “NSIS registration” for a fee, promising a merit position, or asking for payment to download a slip is not NAVTTC. NAVTTC’s official helpline is 0800-88866, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, as shown on navttc.gov.pk itself. If a site’s helpline, domain or fee does not match, close it. Our guide to fake government scheme websites and scams explains how these lookalike portals operate.
Login problems, in order
The steps below are practical guidance from common portal behaviour, not NAVTTC-published rules.
- Check your CNIC format. Enter your 13-digit CNIC without dashes or spaces, exactly as registered. In practice, check this first: a parent’s CNIC, a B-Form number or a single missing digit fails silently — the portal simply will not find your record.
- Check your mobile number. NSIS verification codes go to the number you registered with. If you have changed your SIM, the code is going to a number you no longer control, and no amount of retrying on the same screen will fix it — you will need to update your contact details through the portal’s account options or with institute/helpline help.
- Reset, don’t re-register. If you have forgotten your password, use the portal’s password-reset option rather than creating a second account with the same CNIC. If this happens, the likely causes are duplicate accounts: a second account can cause “record not found” later, because your application may sit under the other profile.
- Clear the browser basics. Try a different browser or device, clear cache, and turn off any VPN if the page will not load. Portal outages during peak admission days are real — if the page fails for everyone, wait and retry rather than re-submitting forms repeatedly.
- Write down the exact error. “Invalid credentials”, “account not verified” and “record not found” mean different things. Note the wording before you call anyone: it saves a long call and points straight to the fix.
Test slip missing or not downloading
A missing test slip usually has one of three causes, and only one of them is yours to fix:
- It has not been issued yet. Slips appear on the portal’s schedule, not the moment you apply. Check NAVTTC’s notices and your institute’s announcements before assuming something is wrong.
- Your application is incomplete or under a different profile. Re-check that your application was actually submitted (not just saved as a draft) and that you are logged into the same account you applied with.
- Your institute holds the detail. In practice, test centres, dates and venue changes are often communicated through institutes first. If the portal shows nothing and the test date is near, your institute is faster than the helpline.
When you do download a slip, save a copy on your phone and print one if you can. On test day, take your original CNIC with the slip — a screenshot alone is a needless risk if a phone battery dies at the gate.
Certificate not showing up
For employer/public verification, NAVTTC’s own contact FAQ directs users to the NVQF Registry at nvqf.navttc.gov.pk to verify a certificate’s authenticity. Separately, a trainee can download their own certificate from their NSIS candidate account once assessment is complete (per Pakera’s 24–25 Oct 2026 NSIS check: the Certificate page appears in the account menu after assessment; the public verify page asks for a 13-digit CNIC).
This is the problem that causes the most panic, and it is usually the least serious. Work through it methodically:
- Match the record, not just the name. When you check a certificate, compare the name, trade, institute and CNIC together. A similar name with a different trade is not your record.
- Ask your institute whether your result was uploaded. Institutes enter attendance and results into NSIS, so a missing certificate is most often an upload delay, not a lost certificate. Your institute can tell you whether your assessment result is in the system.
- Check whether you have actually passed. No certificate exists until the assessment is passed and processed. If you are awaiting a result or a re-assessment, the portal correctly shows nothing.
- Remember older certificates may predate NSIS. Very old paper certificates may not appear in an online system at all. In that case, the body that issued the certificate — not the portal — is the place to ask.
- Then call the helpline. If your institute confirms the result was uploaded and the record is still missing, call NAVTTC on 0800-88866, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with your CNIC, trade, institute name and the exact error or blank result you are seeing.
One warning that applies to every step above: nobody needs to be paid to verify a certificate for you. If an agent or recruiter asks for money to “confirm” your NAVTTC papers, check the record yourself through NSIS or your institute first.
What to have ready before you call anyone
- Your 13-digit CNIC, exactly as registered
- The mobile number and email on your NSIS account
- Your trade/course name and institute name
- Your application ID or registration slip, if you have one
- The exact error message, or a screenshot of the blank result
- What you have already tried (reset, different browser, institute visit)
Helpline staff can only help with the record in front of them. Arriving with those six items turns a twenty-minute call into a five-minute one.
Frequently asked questions
Why does NSIS say my CNIC is not found?
In practice, the likely causes are a formatting error (dashes, a missing digit, or the wrong person’s CNIC), a duplicate account, or an application that was never submitted. Check the format first, then confirm with your institute that your application is in the system.
I never received the OTP. What now?
Confirm the registered mobile number is active and in your hand, check signal and SMS blocking, and retry after a short wait. If the number has changed, you need to update your contact details — codes sent to an old SIM cannot be recovered from the login screen.
My institute says I passed, but no certificate appears. Is it lost?
Almost certainly not. Ask the institute to confirm the result was uploaded to NSIS, and allow processing time after the assessment. Only escalate to the NAVTTC helpline once the institute confirms the upload.
Can someone else verify my certificate for an employer?
An employer can check the record if they have the correct CNIC and the certificate details, but they should match name, trade and institute together — and they should never need to pay an agent to do it.
What if the portal itself is down?
Wait and retry, try another browser or device, and check NAVTTC’s own site for notices. Do not re-register or submit duplicate applications during an outage; duplicates create more problems than the outage did.
Portal trouble feels personal, but it is almost always procedural — a digit, a SIM, an upload, a schedule. Fix those in order, keep your institute in the loop, and keep the helpline for the cases only NAVTTC can resolve. We put this guide together independently to save you a wasted trip to an institute or a call that goes nowhere; the portal and helpline above are the official routes, and they are the ones worth your time.
